Mayville History
Settled in 1804 and Incorporated in 1830, Mayville has an interesting heritage. The growth of the town was stimulated by the arrival of the railroad in the 1860s and the subsequent development of a commercial ice industry. Other historically important industries included cider-making and the production of malted milk. Mayville proudly preserves its historic heritage through the Point Chautauqua Historic District, and township museum located at the old Pennsylvania Railroad Station.
